Supporting children and young people
If at least one parent has served at sea as part of the Merchant Navy, a professional sea-going fishermen, an RNLI lifeboat crew member, and the RFA, we will endeavour to support the education and maintenance of their children, providing they are no longer in a financial position to help themselves.

To determine whether a young person is eligible for our help, we will also consider the length of their parent’s sea service at the Trustees’ total discretion.
We can help children and young people at any stage of their educational development, from birth through to their professional career-entry qualifications.

We are here to support them at any of the following stages:
- Daycare, preschool or nursery
- Primary education
- Secondary education
- Further education
- Higher education – to professional entry qualification
- Career training and apprenticeships – to professional entry qualification
In each case, we need to identify a genuine ‘need’ and this will be based upon factors such as the family’s financial circumstances, domestic environment, health and education.
