International School Meals Day – Fuelling Young Minds
This month, we celebrate International School Meals Day, a global initiative highlighting the importance of nutritious school meals in supporting children’s education, health, and well-being. At the Royal Merchant Navy Education Foundation (RMNEF), we recognize that a well-fed child is better equipped to learn, grow, and achieve their full potential.
Ensuring children have access to balanced and nourishing meals can sometimes be a challenge. That’s why the RMNEF can provide financial support to help with essential school costs—including school meals—to ensure every child has the fuel for thinking they need to thrive.
Why Good Nutrition Supports Learning;
- Better Concentration – A nutritious meal helps students stay focused and engaged throughout the school day.
- Boosted Energy Levels – Balanced meals prevent fatigue and keep children active and alert.
- Improved Academic Performance – Studies show that children who eat healthy meals perform better in exams and classroom activities.
Simple & Nutritious Recipe Ideas. Looking for quick, nutritious meals to keep young learners fueled? Here are some easy ideas:
- Brain-Boosting Breakfast: Overnight oats with banana, nuts, and honey for sustained energy.
- Smart Lunchbox Idea: Whole-grain wraps with lean chicken, cheese, and veggies for a balanced meal.
- After-School Power Snack: Apple slices with peanut butter for a mix of protein and natural sugars.
At the RMNEF, we believe that no child should have to learn on an empty stomach. If you or someone you know could benefit from our support, we encourage you to reach out.
