Historic Land Sale for RMNEF17th October 2013
The Trustees are pleased to announce that, on Friday 11th October 2013, they exchanged contracts with Reading Football Club for the sale of nearly 120 acres of Foundation land near Wokingham, for the club’s new training ground.
The site at Bearwood Estate will be the new home for both their first team and Academy, and plans have already been drawn up for 15 pitches on site, with purpose-built indoor facilities. The conditional contract will be finalised on the receipt of planning permission, and a full planning request will be submitted to Wokingham Borough Council in the near future.
RFC have been at their current facility nearby since 2004 and, with the natural evolution of the club and their investment in the new EPPP structure for elite Academies, they see a new training ground as a hugely positive step forward.
For the Foundation, this sale will form the second major element in meeting the Trustees’ strategic decision to realise their substantial land holding to provide the funds necessary to focus on the Foundation’s charitable work.
