A New RMNEF Ambassador

Historic Land Sale for RMNEF

The Trustees are pleased to announce that, on Friday 11th October 2013, they exchanged contracts with Reading Football Club for the sale of nearly 120 acres of Foundation land near Wokingham, for the club’s new training ground.

A New Name

The Royal Merchant Navy School Foundation was established in 1827 as an Orphan Asylum to provide board and lodging for the orphans of British Merchants’ Seamen, and with sufficient education to enable them to gain employment.

Merchant Navy Medal Award

A Younger Brother of Trinity House, Commander Charles Heron-Watson, has been awarded The Merchant Navy Medal 2008, a prestigious honour which rewards meritorious service and acts of courage afloat by British registered merchant seafarers. Commander Heron-Watson is the Secretary of the Royal Merchant Navy School Foundation, which owns the Bearwood Estate and which helps the needy children of those who have served at sea in the Merchant Service.
